I need a little space to breathe. We solved the world’s problems, but it’s none the better for it. Maybe a little worse. I don’t want you to keep your thoughts to yourself. Only to recognize how you would feel if you were outnumbered 10 to 1. You can disagree with someone without tearing them apart like vicious wolves. A little bit of gentleness can go a long way.
“What makes a person so poisonous righteous
That they’d think less of anyone who just disagreed?
She’s just a pacifist, he’s just a patriot
If I said you were crazy, would you have to fight me?
Fighters for liberty, fighters for power
Fighters for longer turns in the shower
Don’t tell me I can’t fight, ’cause I’ll punch out your lights
And history seems to agree that I would fight you for me.”
-Gulf War Song, Moxy Fruvous
1 Peter 3:8-9,15-16
8Finally, all of you, live in harmony with one another; be sympathetic, love as brothers, be compassionate and humble. 9Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult, but with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing…
15But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, 16keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander.
